Members of the MRC Veterinary Medicine Response Strike team care for nearly 650 displaced animals after the 2008 flood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The University's Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is comprised of students, staff, and faculty from the AHC and Boynton Health Service; it includes more than 1000 members.

OER is responsible for the recruitment, credentialing, training, and deployment of MRC members.

Since 2004, the University's MRC has aided in emergency response and public health initiatives on campus and the broader community.

The University's MRC is recognized by the Department of Health and Human Service's Office of the Surgeon General.

Member Orientation

All U of M Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) members must view the MRC Orientation Module. Topics covered in the 45 minute module include member roles in MRC deployments, member liability, the communication process for deployment notification, as well as other important information. Once the module has been viewed, members are asked to send an email to medicalreserve@umn.edu indicating they have completed the orientation requirement.

NOTE: Those MRC members who have attended a U of M MRC Orientation session in the past do not need to view the on-line version of the orientation.
