MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL– The University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) has launched a Facebook-based photo contest that gives U of M Gopher Football fans a chance to showcase their pets and capture their Gopher spirit.

Starting today, the VMC launched the Pet of the Game contest on the VMC’s official Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/umnvmc. The page features an application that allows the public to enter and vote on Pet of the Game entries for each of the Gopher home football games, where finalists and winning Pet of the Game photos will be displayed on the scoreboard. There will be an in-stadium text vote for the winner for the first home game September 8. Pet-of-the-Game winners will also receive a $150 VMC Gift Card and an entry in the grand prize contest for four Gopher tickets to the Minnesota-Michigan State game at TCF Bank Stadium on November 24, pre-game VIP field passes, and a $500 VMC gift card.
