Research Focus

As a disruptive behavioral disorders specialist, Gerald August studies attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and conduct disorder in children. Drug abuse and anti-social behavior often stem from early childhood behavioral problems, such as ADHD, and August strives to develop prevention methods to combat these issues. He currently evaluates the effectiveness of drug abuse and violence prevention programs among high-risk youth and the dissemination of these programs into community sectors of care.
