Research Focus
The College of Pharmacy’s James Cloyd is an expert in the clinical pharmacology antiepileptic drugs and medications used to treat rare pediatric neurological disorders. He is working with child neurologists and neonatologists to determine if intravenous topiramate, an investigational drug he is developing, can be used to safety and effectively treat severe seizures and brain injury in newborn babies. If they are successful, the drug would be the first new treatment for this condition in 30 years.
