Research Focus

Dr. McMorris is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Nursing where her role includes leading and directing analyses for community-based intervention research projects, providing methodological and analytic support for research-related activities, and mentoring pre- and post-doctoral trainees and fellows with research projects.

She collaborates with colleagues from a variety of departments across the University on research projects and program evaluations, contributing methodological expertise and substantive expertise on adolescent development. She is also the Principal Investigator for an Evaluation of a Restorative Justice Program for Youth grant, funded by the Minnesota Office of Justice programs.

In addition to her wide ranging interests here at the U of M, Dr. McMorris also continues to consult with colleagues on an international study of adolescent development, comparing youth in Washington State and Victoria, Australia, funded by NIDA and NIAAA.

Fact

Dr. McMorris recently published research that found allowing adolescents to drink alcohol under adult supervision does not appear to teach responsible drinking as teens get older.
