Research Focus

A world leader in immunology, Matthew Mescher focuses on understanding T-cells, or specialized cells of the immune system that recognize and fight foreign cells in the body. He uses his knowledge of how the immune system works to develop vaccines to fight cancer and infectious diseases. These vaccines are now being used in clinical trials for skin and kidney cancer.
