Medical research is the beginning of hope.

Today, the promise of research has never been greater for Americans suffering from serious illnesses like cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, depression and Parkinson's. But to fully realize this hope, we must increase federal support for medical research funded by the National Institutes of Health. Increased support for NIH today will pay a lifetime of dividends in better health and quality of life for all Americans.

At the University of Minnesota, the work of our researchers is critical in finding solutions to some of today’s most challenging medical questions.

Our research ranges from investigating the innermost workings of cells to analyzing health data at a population level. Our faculty search for answers on who is susceptible to disease, and why.

Most importantly, we are finding better and faster ways to translate our laboratory research into clinical trials for patients—the only path to new treatments and cures.

Clinical research means hope for the future, a future in which we are committed to remaining a leader in providing next-generation quality care.

In the video player below, hear 3 of our faculty explain how the University of Minnesota is discovering the cures and therapies of tomorrow and providing hope for our patients and people around the world.
