Our health sciences programs currently train 70 percent of Minnesota’s health workforce. At the University of Minnesota, we’re ensuring our state and surrounding region has the health care workforce it needs today and throughout the future. 

Training excellent health care professionals

Chances are, if you find yourself in the office of a local health care provider, a University of Minnesota degree will adorn the walls.

We have more than 7,000 students enrolled in more than 60 degree programs. We also have robust programs training clinical laboratory and occupational therapy professionals.

We continue to advance our training programs to ensure our students leave the University of Minnesota's health sciences programs prepared to impact the fields they've chosen in new and innovative ways.

To deliver the most effective patient care, clinical providers must often work together across disciplines. 

With all of the health sciences grouped under one umbrella, the Academic Health Center educates students from a one-health approach to match the team-based model of health care in the real world.

At the AHC Simulation Center, students gain experiences that help bridge the jump from classroom to clinic.

Addressing Minnesota’s workforce needs

We’ve responded to the changing needs of Minnesotans, and we’re fostering a workforce that reflects the communities in our state. Our students participate in clinical rotations across the state, filling the gaps where access-to-care is limited.

We’re educating students and expanding research to tackle major issues in our state: access-to-care, rural healthagingfood safetyaddiction and health disparities.

The Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC), like many of the University of Minnesota's clinical sites, provides comprehensive care for the underserved, increasing access to care while training students in cultural competence, health disparities, and team-based care.
