Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH, investigates infectious disease outbreaks stateside and abroad, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and influenza. He is a member of the National Academy of Science Institute of Medicine and former state epidemiologist at the Minnesota Department of Health. He is a frequent consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Defense, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
